The assignment of part one was to draw ourselves as we were reflected in a mirror or photo. (I used a photo as the TA said this was okay.)

I’ve never really paid so much attention to myself. I’m not one of those girls that gets up an hour early to put makeup on and do their hair. I normally roll out of bed and go to class without looking in the mirror most days. It’s just simpler that way. So when I got to this assignment I was a little apprehensive.

I couldn’t do this project without making it a little funny to at least me, hence the face I’m making. It’s the face I make when I’m concentrating on something and trying to figure out how to go about drawing it.

Now I’ve got to think about the second half of this portrait and what I’ll do. I’m supposed to draw myself as I see myself. It’s tempting to turn in a blank sheet of paper and just say that I don’t think of myself often enough to know what to do, but I don’t think that would be an acceptable action if I want to get a good grade. So we shall see what happens.
